LA CHANTUESE DU CABARET
Words & Music by Cheryl Lynne Skinner
She walks out on stage, all dressed in black
Takes her first bow with a tip of her hat
A little bit nervous, imagine that!
She looks at the crowd, faces her fear
Asks herself, “why am I here”?
Oh my goodness! Oh my gosh! This is it!
What have I done, it’s too late to quit.
Ooh la la lee lee lee lah, say you wanna be a star?
She struts across stage. Picks up the mic
It’s too late to panic so don’t get uptight
The band starts playin’ a little razz-ma-tazz
She starts swayin’ to all that jazz
She takes a deep breath. She starts to sing
Belts the first note. The room starts to swing.
Ooh la la lee lee lee lah, say you wanna be a star?
The club starts to groove. The band’s getting’ hot.
She’s wailin’ the blues and it’s hittin’ the spot
Before you know it’s the end of the set.
She’s put on a show that you’ll never forget.
Takes her last bow and let’s out a sigh.
She’s leavin’ the stage on a natural high
Ooh la la lee lee lee lah, say you wanna be a star?
AD lib
Vocal cue: She’s a star, what can she say
See ya later at the jazz cabaret
